Mechanical Engineer Plastics Procurement Engineer

NetViet’s client is looking for Mechanical Engineer Plastics Procurement Engineer (12 months project)

Location: Lieu Giai, Hanoi

JOB SUMMARY:

The candidate plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process, supporting daily production and solving day-to-day procurement issues on the ground. He will work with Partners, Suppliers and our MPa (Manufacturing Partner) to ensure a successful manufacturing setup in Hanoi, Vietnam

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Sourcing and Supplier Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and assess suppliers for plastics and tooling components.
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier & MPA relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality compliance.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and our MPA.

2. Quality Assurance

  • Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that materials and tooling meet requirement specifications and HP standards.
  • Address and resolve all quality issues with suppliers and MPA using effective corrective actions.

3. Cost & Program Management

  • Be a site lead to ensure tool transfer to production requirements are executed and ensure no lapse in procurement practices.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and Mpa to ensure timely delivery of tooling, qualification, and production timelines.
  • Monitor and report on potential cost improvements and budget adherence.
  • Identify gaps in the manufacturing process and report potential cost savings.
  • Knowledge of market trends and pricing to identify cost savings opportunities.

4. Process Improvement

  • Continuously evaluate and improve current procurement practices on-site.
  • Implement best practices in a manufacturing environment, improve HP’s processes and conduct regular audit.

5. Cross-functional collaboration

  • Work closely with internal HP teams to understand material and design requirements for production.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on-site to ensure compliance with HP’s manufacturing process and requirements.

EXPERIENCES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years experience in the plastics tooling and molding industry.
  • Hands-on experience in using 2D and 3D CAD applications like Creo, ProE or SolidWorks.
  • Knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing and statistical quality processes.
  • Excellent analytical & supplier management skills.
  • Able to travel locally to supplier & manufacturing sites
