2024 Independence Day Holiday Schedule in Vietnam

For Public Officials and Civil Servants

Public officials and civil servants will have 4 consecutive days off from Saturday, August 31, 2024, to Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Thus, during the Independence Day holiday in 2024, public officials and civil servants will have 4 days off (including 2 Independence Day holidays, 1 weekly rest day, and 1 compensatory day for the weekly rest day as stipulated in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code).

For Employees in the Enterprise Sector

Employers decide to grant employees 2 days off (September 2 and either the day immediately before or after).

Suppose the weekly rest day coincides with the Lunar New Year or Independence Day holiday. In that case, the employer must arrange for employees to take a compensatory rest day on the next working day as stipulated in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.

Therefore, for employees with a one-day weekly rest schedule, during the 2024 Independence Day holiday, those who typically have Sundays off will have 3 consecutive days off: September 1, 2024, September 2, 2024, and September 3, 2024.

Employers must notify employees of the Independence Day holiday schedule 2024 at least 30 days in advance.

Employer Notification

Employers must inform employees of the 2024 Independence Day holiday schedule at least 30 days in advance to ensure compliance and proper planning.
